Fireside Toddy

Honey, Ginger, and Whiskey Meet by the Fire

There's something about cold weather that makes you crave a drink that warms you from the inside out. This toddy delivers exactly that, with bourbon or rye as the foundation and a homemade honey-ginger cordial that brings serious depth without extra fuss. The whiskey stays front and center here, softened just enough by the honey's sweetness and ginger's bite. Fresh lemon juice cuts through the richness, while Angostura bitters add a subtle layer of spice. Those clove-studded lemon wheels aren't just pretty, they release their aroma as the drink steams, making each sip even more satisfying. It's spirit-forward without being harsh, the kind of drink that actually tastes like whiskey, not hot lemonade. Make this when you're settling in for the evening, maybe with a book or after shoveling snow. The honey-ginger cordial keeps for two weeks, so you can have a proper toddy ready in minutes whenever the temperature drops. Your winter nights just got considerably better.
