Evening Garden

Cold-Brewed Tea Meets Warming Spice and Citrus

Great mocktails aren't about replacing alcohol. They're about building something delicious from the ground up, and this one does exactly that with cold-brewed black tea as its foundation. The Evening Garden starts with the smooth, tannic richness of cold-brewed Earl Grey or Assam, which gives you all the depth without any harsh bitterness. Spiced honey syrup brings warming notes of star anise and cardamom that bloom across your palate, while fresh lemon juice adds brightness and pear juice contributes a subtle, almost silky sweetness. A couple dashes of orange bitters and a splash of sparkling water round everything out with aromatic complexity and gentle effervescence. This is the drink for twilight hours on the patio, dinner parties where not everyone's drinking, or those evenings when you want something sophisticated in your glass but alcohol doesn't fit the plan. Serve it in a coupe with an edible flower, and nobody will question its place at the table.
